■ This course is suitable for amateurs to serious semi pro photographers alike - the course is very comprehensive
■ Whilst it's advantageous to have some background photography knowledge, the course is very detailed with easy to understand, step by step procedures to teach you every facet of camera handling skills and composition, lighting and a myriad of other techniques to become a competent landscape photographer
■ What is important is to have good camera gear. Whilst a cheap $500 DLSR is capable of taking good landscape photographs, you need camera gear that reflects your commitment and professionalism to your craft and a bag of quality camera gear does just that
■ Any medium format or full framed DSLR camera or mirrorless camera is ideal. Their bigger sensors give higher resolution and better results. Cropped sensor cameras are good but a large sensor camera is better! If you in the middle of nowhere and have spend a lot of money and time to get there (eg Antarctica) - a spare camera body is essential
■ We also suggest you have a quality compact in the field with a wide angle lens such as a Lumix LX7 (24mm) or equivalent. These are particularly good as a back up camera
■ Quality lenses are essential for high resolution and sharp landscape photography. The three main lenses in a landscape photographers camera bag would be a 16-36mm, a 24-70mm and a 70-200mm or a 70-300mm. A mid range lens (eg 24-105mm or a 24-120mm) would be useful if you were only shooting with only one lens. A prime lenses such as a 24mm wide angle is an especially good landscape lens
■ An external on-camera flash unit is not essential to do this landscape course
■ We highly recommend you have a quality smartphone with a panoramas or pano mode. They are highly capable in bright light of taking a great panorama
■ A sturdy tripod, U/V, ND and polarising filters
