■ This course is suitable for amateurs to serious semi pro photographers alike - the course is very comprehensive
■ Whilst it's advantageous to have some background photography knowledge, the course is very detailed with easy to understand, step by step procedures to teach you every facet of camera handling skills and compositional, lighting and a myriad of other techniques to become a competent people and portrait photographer
■ What is important is to have good camera gear, a cheap $500 DLSR is capable of taking good to great low light, twilight and night photography if you use a tripod. Shooting at a professional level (ie stars) you need camera gear that reflects your commitment and professionalism to your craft and a bag of quality camera gear does just that
■ Any medium format or full framed DSLR camera or mirrorless camera is ideal. Their bigger sensors give higher resolution and better results. They also have modes such as 'rear or 2nd curtain sync' for light trail work. Cropped sensor cameras are good but a large sensor camera is better! If you in the middle of nowhere and have spend a lot of money and time to get there (eg Arctic regions) a spare camera body is essential
■ We also suggest you have a quality compact in the field with a wide angle lens such as a Lumix LX7 (24mm) or equivalent. These are particularly good as back up cameras
■ Quality lenses are essential for high resolution twilight & night photography. The three main lenses in a twilight/night photographers camera bag would be a 16-36mm, a 24-70mm and a 70-200mm or a 70-300mm. A mid range lens (eg 24-105mm or a 24-120mm) would be useful if you were only shooting with only one lens. A prime lenses such as a 24mm to 35mm wide angle (ie street photography) is an especially good twilight/night photography lens
■ An external on-camera flash unit is preferable to do this twilight/night course (or use your built in camera flash) but for pro work having one is essential
■ We highly recommend you have a quality smartphone and download an app such as camera+ so as you can select RAW and low ISO settings. They are highly capable of taking great panoramas using an app. Some smartphones like the Samsung S10 allows you to shoot RAW and to adjust the ISO manually
■ A sturdy tripod is essential. You will need U/V, ND and polarising filters as you start to shoot professionally
